A team of local filmmakers has been rewarded for its endurance.
“Endure,” a detective thriller shot entirely in Polk County two years ago, will soon reach a national audience. The DVD version of the movie will appear in Redbox rental kiosks May 3 and will reach store shelves May 31.
Lakeland-based NFocus Pictures recently signed a North American distribution deal with the newly created Naedomi Media. “Endure” will serve as the flagship movie for the California-based company.
Rob Tritton, the film’s co-producer, said NFocus considered about 20 distribution offers before choosing Naedomi. The deal culminates a five-year process that began when former Lakeland resident Joe O’Brien began writing the script in 2006.
The Ledger has written periodically about “Endure” since early 2008, when the filmmakers were still seeking financial backers for the project.
NFocus has also signed a contract for foreign distribution of the 92-minute movie.
“For us, the goal was to make something for the mass market, and so this is what we’ve had our eyes set on from the very beginning,” Tritton said. “Most films don’t even get distribution, so it’s been a pretty big deal for us to get this into the different outlets it will be in.”
The domestic distribution deal pays NFocus a percentage of all sales of the DVD, including those to Redbox or other vendors. Naedomi founder and CEO Steve Break said he expects “Endure” to be available soon as a view-on-demand title through the likes of DISH Network and DIRECTV. — The Ledger
